MCN’s CSMO, Mark Frain, caught up with one of the UK’s leading experts in multi-screen television, Rhys McLachlan, SVP Global TV Strategy at Videology.
The pair discussed television’s twin speed economy, with Rhys sharing how industry doomsayers are being increasingly quietened by the evidence TV is not in any decline. His evidence includes sustained viewing across most of the major audience groups, plus increased confidence in the ad revenue economy, which, when looked at holistically, paints a very positive picture.
But, that’s not stopping the major operators in the TV economy in the UK making significant investments into technology to enable more progressive products. Rhys also talks about the more compelling go-to market strategies making this space more competitive for advertisers overseas and how Australia is actually one of the most developed markets in comparison, with the nature of our local TV economy a perfect incubator for the development of new products.
