Birds of Tokyo, one of Australia’s most popular contemporary rock bands are set to perform at the [V] Island Party on Tuesday April 30, thanks to presenting partner iHeartRadio Australia and broadcast exclusively to [V] on Foxtel.

Set on the iconic Sydney Harbour, Birds of Tokyo will perform to a packed party crowd and will rock the legendary [V] Island for the final party for this season and show why they one of Australia’s biggest live acts.

Birds of Tokyo return with their first new music of 2019, the heart-wrenching single Good Lord. The emotional new single reaches a whole new level as lead singer Ian Kenny bares his soul in the accompanying video. A striking and often confronting look at a brutal true story of betrayal, the song written about an ugly marriage breakup two years ago.

Formed in Perth in 2004, Birds of Tokyo have grown from independent roots to a band who sit at the pinnacle of Australian rock. Songs like Plans, Lanterns, This Fire, Anchor and I’d Go With You Anywhere, have all been top 10 airplay hits and have led to appearances at every major festival in this country.

Birds of Tokyo’s breakthrough self-titled third studio album went double-platinum and spent over eight months in the ARIA top 20. Subsequent records have helped the band carve a singular career for more than a decade, including 2012’s March Fires, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart and produced triple-platinum radio hit Lanterns, gold-certified EP Anchor (2015) and 2016’s top #3- peaking album BRACE.

Birds of Tokyo join an incredible list of local and international performers who have graced the [V] Island stage, including Tiësto, Mark Ronson, Martin Garrix, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Ed Sheeran, Major Lazer, Dizzee Rascal, Rudimental, Charli XCX, Julia Michaels and Alessia Cara, along with local legends PNAU, Hilltop Hoods, Guy Sebastian and Delta Goodrem.

Fraser Stark, Group General Manager, Foxtel’s Entertainment & Music channels said, “It’s a tough balance to marry making cool, intelligent rock music with being a favourite on the radio. Tough but, obviously, it’s not impossible as Birds of Tokyo has done just that. The ARIA and multi-APRA Award-winning band have long been favourites on [V] and everywhere else. We are chuffed to have them aboard the [V] Island for what should be an uplifting way to close out this season.”
