ESPN INTERNATIONAL AND THE NFL REACH EXPANDED RIGHTS AGREEMENT FOR AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND

The National Football League and ESPN International have reached an agreement to extend and expand their relationship in Australia and New Zealand through the end of the 2013-2014 season. The agreement, part of a broad international deal between ESPN and the NFL, will see ESPN Australia and New Zealand offering the most comprehensive annual line-up of NFL games and support programming. ESPN's Monday Night Football will air LIVE and EXCLUSIVELY on TV on ESPN and ESPN HD in Australia. ESPN will also broadcast games throughout the post season and LIVE coverage of the SuperBowl.

Under the agreement, ESPN AUS/NZ will showcase more NFL programming than ever before, highlighted each year by: 

  • LIVE coverage of 43 regular season games including the best US primetime matchups, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football and 8 Thursday and Saturday night games.
  • ESPN's Monday Night Football LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on TV on ESPN and ESPN HD in Australia.
  • LIVE coverage of 5 playoff games and the SuperBowl each season.
  • All games available in ESPN's crystal clear High Definition on ESPN HD.
  • Internet highlight rights and LIVE Monday Night Football internet streaming to ESPN360, ESPN's broadband player available exclusively to FOXTEL and AUSTAR sports tier subscribers.
  • EXCLUSIVE coverage of ESPN's award winning studio programming including NFL Sunday Countdown, Monday Night Countdown, NFL Primetime and NFL LIVE.
  • Exclusive features throughout ESPN's original AUSSIES ABROAD series focusing on Australian NFL players Chris Bryan, Mat McBriar, Ben Graham and Saverio Rocca.
  • Additionally, ESPN will air NFL Films original programming, including Super Bowl Highlights, Yearbooks, Greatest Games, NFL Films Presents and more.

The agreement adds to ESPN's extensive coverage of the NFL around the globe, now reaching more than 150 countries outside the US.  The international deal will see ESPN delivering the NFL to nearly 100 countries worldwide, across Latin America, Brazil, the Caribbean, the Pacific Rim, the Middle East, Africa and Israel. ESPN's Monday Night Football will be available to viewers across all territories covered by the deal, including exclusive coverage on TV in Australia.

ESPN AUS/NZ coverage kicks off with the season must see opening game; Minnesota Vikings vs. Super Bowl champs New Orleans Saints, a rematch of last years classic NFC Championship game. LIVE on ESPN and ESPN HD, Friday September 10 at 10.30am.
