Aussie action sports fans are in for a treat with wall to wall LIVE and EXCLUSIVE coverage of X Games Los Angeles on ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN3.com and ESPN3D. 13 Australian athletes - the highest contingent outside of the US - will be lining up to test the limits and break the records when X Games Los Angeles begins July 29 AET.

The X Games features athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prizemoney in sports including skateboarding, motocross, BMX and rally car racing. X Games 17 will be covered live on ESPN's family of networks as well as ESPN's many digital media assets including ESPN3D, ESPN3.com, ESPN.com/action and XGames.com.

This year's X Games will feature more than 200 male and female athletes competing in skateboard, BMX, Moto X and Rally Cross events. Thirteen Australians*, the biggest international contingent, will line up this week, led by the superstar trio of Robbie MaddisonCam Sinclair and Jackson Strong. Maddison, the 2010 Best Trick Silver Medallist will compete in his fifth X Games and is recognised as one of the best FMX riders in the world. The Aussie daredevil, most known for his numerous world record breaking mega leaps and bounds has branched out to Rally car racing where he will compete for the first time at X Games.

Moto X Superstar Cam Sinclair's story is legendary. After a near fatal accident in 2009, he made the ultimate return to the sport he loves by landing a near textbook double Backflip in the X Games, 'Best Trick' event in 2010, winning himself the elusive gold medal and completing what is arguably one of the greatest comebacks in sport!

Jackson Jacko Strong is another world record breaker. In 2011 he became an X Games Gold Medallist in Moto X Best Trick when he became the first person in the world to front-flip a motorcycle to dirt and also holds the honour of being the youngest person in the world to back-flip a full-size motorcycle.

The trio will be joined by Rob Adelberg (Moto X), Kyle Baldock (BMX Freestyle Park), dual X Games Silver Medallist Jake Brown(Skateboard Big Air), Vince Byron Gold Medallist, 2012 X Games Asia (BMX Freestyle Vert), 2011 Big Air Gold Medallist Steve McCann (Skateboard Big Air), 2011 Silver Medallist X Games Best Whip Jarryd McNeil (Moto X Best Whip), Nitro Circus competitor Mark Monea, who in 2011 landed the first ever 360 front flip in Freestyle Moto X history (Moto X), Shane O'Neill (Skateboard Street), 2009 Gold medallist Moto X Freestyle & Silver medal, Moto X Best Trick Blake Williams (Moto X Freestyle) and Australia's only female competitor, 17 year old reigning Australian Women's MX champion Megan Rutledge, a newcomer to the X Games who has been marked as a favourite for the Moto X Women's Racing event.

The four days will also see a host of top action sports stars taking part - legendary names like Brazilian skateboarder Bob Burnquist will feature alongside British BMX stars Jamie Bestwick and Simon Tabron. Bestwick will be attempting to secure an unprecedented sixth-consecutive gold medal in the BMX Freestyle Vert discipline.

The event will also serve as a rolling introduction of the new six-event annual global X Games series that will launch next year, which sees three new events added to the established games in Los Angeles and Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado and Tignes, France. Beginning in 2013 X Games events will also take place in Barcelona, Munich and Foz Do Iguaçu in Brazil.

ESPN live television coverage of the X Games starts in Australia on Friday 29 June and runs through to Monday 2nd July. Full schedule is below.

X GAMES GLOBAL EXPANSION

The X Games events will spotlight the world's best action sports athletes in BMX, Skateboard, Moto X, and Rally Car Racing at the X Games; and Skiing, Snowboard and Snowmobile at the winter version of the X Games against the backdrop of the host city and country. ESPN conducted a formal bid process starting last May which resulted in significant interest from locations around the world that bid to host one of three new events (which join Los Angeles, Aspen and Tignes). In May 2012 it was announced that local organizing committees for Foz do Iguaçu, Munich and Barcelona will collaborate with ESPN for three years (beginning 2013) to bring the premier action sports event to their cities, launching an annual, six-event X Games calendar - four of which will be summer events and two winter.

Each X Games event will take on its own distinguishing character that will set it apart from the others, including the introduction of new sports and cultural elements that are drawn from the host cities themselves. In the past the X Games has successfully organized smaller action sports events, qualifiers and demonstrations in Brazil, Canada, China, France, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Philippines and UAE.
