EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING FOR THE LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES

London 2012 Olympic Games - July 27
All over Australia excitement is building as the London 2012 Olympic Games approaches - and nowhere more so than here at MCN and FOXTEL. As of today there are 79 days to go and 97 members of the Australian Olympic Team have been announced out of a prospective team size of 400.
As we continue the detailed planning of FOXTEL's 8 channels with live coverage all in HD, a broadcast that will capture every single one of 302 Gold Medal sessions live and in full, recent test and lead up event results confirm just how important access to all Olympic sports will be to FOXTEL's loyal sports subscribers.
In the past 24 hours we've seen Australia's women's water polo team charge into Olympic gold medal contention after defeating the USA 6-5 in the finals at the Water Polo test event in London. Since capturing gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Australia has finished fourth at the 2004 Athens Games and picked up bronze in Beijing four years ago. Australia and the USA have played off for medals at the past three Olympic Games so this was a very significant win for the team.
Overnight news came in from Germany that Olympic sailor Tom Slingsby has extended his lead at the top of the ladder at the 2012 Laser World Championships following another two races yesterday in challenging, shifty conditions. Along with news that one of our best road cyclists Matt Goss won the third stage of the Giro d'Italia after narrowly losing the second stage to Britain's Mark Cavendish
Australia's Olympic diving hopefuls also had a brilliant start to their London 2012 campaign over the weekend, collecting five medals at the FINA Grand Prix in Montreal, Canada. They next travel to Fort Lauderdale where FOXTEL ambassador Matt Mitcham will join the team for his final preparation for London. And finally the all conquering Australian Men's Hockey Team, who are hot favourites for Gold in London were surprisingly defeated twice in a week by the German team.
FOXTEL's coverage of the London 2012 Olympic Games will be the only place where all 26 Olympic sports, including the Olympic mainstays of swimming and athletics will receive at a minimum live coverage of their Gold Medal sessions, while for several of them FOXTEL will cover every minute of every session live.
FOXTEL's confirmed Broadcast Partners are Mitsubishi, Coca Cola, Coles, Commonwealth Bank, McDonalds, Harvey Norman, Procter & Gamble and Samsung .
There are a limited number of advertising packages available during the Games so please contact your MCN Account Manager for further information or to arrange a presentation.
